Ali Siddiqui is a seasoned senior executive, international counsel, and strategic advisor with nearly three decades of experience guiding multinational corporations, sovereign entities, and private investors across complex legal, regulatory, and commercial environments. His work spans FMCG, energy, utilities, infrastructure, and industrial sectors — integrating executive leadership with cross-border legal and government relations expertise across Europe, the GCC, South Asia, and Central Asia.

 

Ali has held senior executive and advisory positions across leading multinational groups including Unilever, Royal Dutch Shell, Engro Group, K-Electric (Al-Jomaih Group), and Philip Morris International — delivering market entry structures, regulatory outcomes, privatization mandates, and multi-billion-dollar investment and restructuring programs.

  • Mergers & Acquisitions: Led landmark deals, including a $350 million FMCG acquisition and multiple FMCG and energy sector integrations.
  • Energy & Infrastructure: Played a central role in securing almost $1 billion financing through IFC/ADB and a local consortium of banks. Served as Lead General Counsel in negotiating, securing and implementing turnkey EPC & O&M arrangements for a 220MW GE power plant.
  • Corporate Restructuring: Regional GC and senior executive leading a $3 billion restructuring project, including setting up new PEs, manufacturing units, distribution networks, offshore trading hubs, and aligning revenue streams with local and US laws across the GCC, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Azerbaijan. Managed multiple facility closures, layoffs, and industrial relations matters.
  • Divestment & Integration: Led a $25 million downstream divestment and the acquisition and integration of a foods business.
  • Strategic Growth: Spearheaded new ventures in food, energy and logistics while delivering over $10 million in annual savings through contract renegotiations.

  • Formally recognised by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC — citation: SPI_DP25396) as Chief Legal Advisor & Company Secretary of KESC in post-privatisation rehabilitation and expansion programs (including ADB Project 40943-PAK, Appendix 8).
  • Appeared as Senior Counsel representing Lakson Tobacco Company in the Competition Commission of Pakistan's public hearing on minimum cigarette pricing, recorded in the CCP "Opinion on Fixing of Minimum Price in the Cigarette Industry" (2 June 2009).
